Cozy made for Sherry

This is Actually the first mini quilt I ever made. I made it for my Mother in law or Mom#2 Sherry, because she got an awesome Job at the Museum and I thought she could use it for her coffee at her new Office.

I will share this easy tutorial with you

And what i did was cut strips of 4 different fabrics 1.5 inch wide, sew them together in 4 different orders.

then cut strips of 1.5 inches

and sew the together again in a way that you never have the same fabric next to each other

Make a sandwich, remember that the batting is bigger than the top and the backing fabric is bigger than the bating... although in such a small project I don't know if it makes a difference

quilt the sandwich with strait lines (or however you want)

cut it in a cozy shape

Bind it

 And use it!!!

To get the shape I used the cardboard slip that contained the information of the thermus, but you can cut a cardboard coffee sleeve from starbucks and you will have the idea.

Old Pictures

I've been terribly neglecting my blog and even though I've been keeping myself busy, I don't want to give any explanations of my procrastinating since they will only sound as coward excuses.
I wanted to show you what my husband and I made for his paw paw GB and his (our) mom Sherry.
We went to NY city on our honeymoon and we visited the MOMA. Of all the exhibitions from famous artists, paintings, sculptures, etc, that you can find in a Museum like this. We found this exhibition sharing one room with other photographers, but it gathered the attention of most visitors. It consisted of black frames with white background and randomly placed black and white old pictures of regular people from the 50's to the 80's some of them were color photos too.
It was funny to see how everyone was so interested on looking at the pictures of random people doing regular everyday activities trying to find out who they were, what were they doing at that very moment, what they were wearing, why did they take that picture, and somehow relating it to us. To the pictures we take, occasions in our life that we think must be photographed.
So we went to paw paw GB's house to gather some pictures from his life and we came up with these:

So this was our result, we gave them to Sherry and Mr. GB and I think they loved them! Now we want to make some for our walls.

Flan is a very traditional mexican desert kids and adults love this magnificent sweet dish, is in between creme brulee and caramel pudding.

All you need is
5 eggs
1 can of condensed milk la lechera *dulce de leche (you will find this one in the hispanic foods isle) it can be supplemented by condensed milk but dulce de leche is way much better
1 can of evaporated milk
1 cup of sugar
Mix all the ingredients except for the sugar, pour the sugar in a pan and heat until it melts and turns brown, pour very hot sugar in the recipient where you will boil your flan, then pour the other mix of ingredients, cover with aluminum foil and a rubber band.
Place the recipient in a bigger pan or casserole filled with water and let it cook for 1hr and 30min or till the mix has a jello texture. If its cooked in a pressure pot it will only take 20 min. Let it stand in the fridge overnight and enjoy!

This are the results:

DELICIOSO!!!

Y aquí Eric disfrutando!

Pan de yogurt y frutas/ Yogurt & fruits bread

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to share this recipe that I learned to bake when I lived in France, it's so easy yet so yummy. The best part is that you can use any fruits you like, although I recommend strawberries peach and blackberries.

(to measure we'll use the yogurt container)
1 Individual yogurt nature flavor (I only found the greek kind with no flavor, it works perfect)
4 eggs
3 containers of flour
2 containers of sugar
1 container of vegetable oil (don't use olive oil)
3 containers (or as desired) of any fruit choped if its bigger than a blackberry.

Mix all the ingredients in that order place the mix in a baking pan, (i use wax paper for non sticking and easy dish washing). Bake for 30 to 40 min 300F
Ready! Its great with a cappuccino!

Y listo!!!!! A comer!!!!

Be careful where you place your cake, eve dogs like it mine sneaked in to the kitchen and ate half of it!

He aquí el ladronzuelo!
